In May of 2023, we hosted a giveaway to gift a dream wedding to a local teacher in honor of Teachers’ Appreciation Month. This giveaway promised to offer a magical experience for a deserving teacher, and we were honored to be a part of Kristen and Shawn’s beautiful celebration this spring!
Our winner, Kristen, graciously shared her experience working with the Newport Harbor Island Resort team to make her dream wedding a reality.
At the start of the planning process, a comprehensive venue tour helped Kristen and Shawn envision their wedding day, while the flexibility of the waterfront ballroom allowed them to tailor the space to fit their vision. Their menu tasting was another highlight during wedding planning, with the culinary team offering delicious, customizable options that delighted their guests and complemented the wedding’s ambiance.
Guided by a commitment to exceptional guest experience, the Newport Harbor Island Resort team ensured every detail was handled through meticulous guidance and timely responses. Reflecting on their experience, Kristen and Shawn expressed the support, attention to detail, and genuine care from the team made their special day truly memorable.
The wedding day itself was nothing short of spectacular. The ceremony and reception were elegantly coordinated with a timeless color scheme of blue hues and blush pink. The ceremony featured two flower pillars and hanging aisle liners from Songbird Floral, with the Goat Island Lighthouse providing a breathtaking backdrop. As the newlyweds began their recessional, friends and family in celebrated with biodegradable white confetti poppers for a picture-perfect moment.
The reception included personal touches that made the event uniquely their own. Custom wedding favors and a photo timeline table number display captured moments from the couple’s early years, while Cake Gallery’s delicious two-tier cake and an assortment of cupcakes added a sweet touch. The couple also designed a custom menu bar sign featuring their signature drinks and set up a photo booth with props for guests to enjoy.
Among the many cherished moments of the day, Kristen and Shawn highlighted their vow exchange as particularly meaningful. Standing before their loved ones and sharing their promises made the day feel profoundly special. They were also deeply moved by the heartfelt speeches and toasts, which added to the warmth and joy of the occasion. A stand-out moment was watching the sunset over Newport Harbor, casting a beautiful pink and orange glow that perfectly framed their wedding day.
